12th March 2007

Leading Internet solutions provider, Scotland Online has introduced the first of a new range of colocation and managed hosting products to complement its highly regarded, bespoke managed hosting service. The existing services are currently being enjoyed by a wide range of organisations, including Standard Life, Scottish Widows, Scotland’s People, Fife Council, TSC, Vianet, the Scottish Executive and ConsumerDirect.

The new range will allow many smaller organisations across the UK to take advantage of Scotland Online’s award-winning, Tier 4 data-centre, unique network infrastructure and experienced technical teams based in Dundee and Edinburgh, at market-leading prices.

Malcolm Dobson, Scotland Online’s CTO stated “More and more organisations are recognising the growing risks and hidden costs of locating servers supporting their business critical web services on their own premises. Often the server room or comms cabinet which seemed ideally suited for the job has run out of space, power or cooling. Or maybe the running costs have finally been added up and they just don’t compute! Realising this, organisations are making the decision to solve these problems and free up vital resources by outsourcing their infrastructure to a specialist hosting company like Scotland Online”

Scotland Online has designed its new range of hosting services with those businesses in mind. The services will deliver secure, scalable, low-cost and future-proofed hosting solutions for thousands of Scottish and UK businesses.
