Pivotal Integration Case Study
March 2007
Background
In June 2006 Scotland Online secured a three year contract with Pivotal Integration, one of Scotland’s fastest growing software developers. Working with clients from the public, finance, telecommunications and legal sectors, Pivotal specialises in delivering software solutions to customer-focused organisations.
Over the course of the past four years Pivotal has developed its own unique software manufacturing process, the Pattern-it® factory, which it has used to manufacture its complete suite of products. These software products can then be deployed on-site at a client’s premises or hosted from a remote location.
The Brief
Pivotal appointed Scotland Online to host the infrastructure for its latest web-based tool, Liquid Money Advice, which was designed to cater for the current and future needs of money advisors.
The main aim of Liquid Money Advice is to help alleviate debt and it is currently the only debt management system which incorporates the guiding principles of the Money Advice Trust and British Bankers Association, and which adheres to the Scottish Executive’s financial inclusion reporting requirements.
Liquid Money Advice was designed following an independent evaluation of systems that were available on the market and having secured contracts from two of Scotland’s leading local authorities, Glasgow City Council and North Ayrshire Council, Pivotal required a hosting partner with the necessary expertise to design and implement a robust infrastructure.
This infrastructure had to provide secure web access for all users and offer a high degree of service availability.
The Solution
In developing the infrastructure for Liquid Money Advice, Scotland Online liaised closely with Pivotal and having established the company’s needs and requirements Scotland Online designed, tested and implemented an infrastructure in just three weeks.
Scotland Online developed an infrastructure which allows office-based workers, those working from home and outreach workers to access Liquid Money Advice without having to install any additional software or use synchronisation mechanisms with the user’s computer. The system can also be accessed by mobile devices such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and smart phones etc…
All data that is collected by Liquid Money Advice is now held and managed centrally by Scotland Online and any changes to the system can also be deployed centrally. This centralised approach ensures that all of Pivotal’s clients use the same standardised version of Liquid Money Advice.
Mike McHale, account manager at Scotland Online, said:
“Pivotal Integration has developed a truly innovative software package that is enabling local authorities to tackle the escalating problem of debt head-on. The company was facing some challenging timescales in regards to rolling out this particular project and I’m pleased to say, that by using our tailor-made infrastructure it was able to meet all of these.”
